Bio: drafted in second round of the 2004 amateur draft out of Arizona State. Highly regarded as a top prospect in Boston, and will get the chance to be an every day player this season. We passed up on several options at second base to give him the job, and I believe he'll produce as good as any other second baseman we could have picked up. He's only 23 too, and giving a 23 year old the starting job at a position isn't easy on him, though it helps the club out in the long run as he'll be producing in his prime younger and for more seasons. Made his major league debut at the end of August last season against the Angels.

Projected 2007 Statistics: .275, 10, 50, 65, 30

Fantasy Outlook: a starting second baseman on a major league team is worth taking a risk on because there isn't a lot of them out there. Especially because Pedroia looks like he'll keep the job all season regardless. The Sox don't look like they have any intentions on replacing him at second base for the next two seasons, which should boost his confidence meaning he'll produce a little more. In AL only leagues he's a decent option, universe leagues he could even fill a starting role.
